GRAI - Abundance Necklace

Diana Știrbei’s passion for graphic design inspired her to search symmetric traditional Romanian motifs with deep meanings. After a long and thorough documentation, she chose the most special elements and combined them using a graphic design software and this is how Grai necklaces were born. The four original designs tell almost forgotten stories about the Romanian culture. Also, she chose to create the necklaces from wood and metal, two of the oldest materials used by humans, by combining old materials and symbols with modern laser-cutting techniques. Each Grai is made out of two pieces, so on the wooden laser-engraved base is fixed another layer of metal sheet, also laser-cut. All necklaces are manually polished, joint and finished; they are varnished with ecologically hydrophobic nontoxic lacquer.
